About us

Sandbach Striders was born back in 2003. Since the early days, membership has grown with a firm ethos of the club being not just about running but social activities as well. The club is affiliated to UK AAA and has its own qualified coaches. Many other special events take place on various nights too.

The club meets on Wednesdays at 18:30 and Sundays at 09:00 at Elworth Cricket Club.

Whilst many members compete in races from 5k to Marathons, the emphasis remains purely on keeping people motivated and having fun. Why not scan through our race reports to see what we’ve been up to? Having read them, you’re sure to see why Sandbach Striders has developed the motto of being

Jason Bulley, Michael Escolme and organiser Denzil Martin
The 5th annual 9bar Sunrise to Sunset Challenge took place in Telford, Shropshire on Thursday 27th December. This year the event was sponsored by 9 Bar. The idea of the event is for runners to run as far as they can (or want to) between the hours of sunrise (08:20) and sunset (16:01), the winner being the runner who records the furthest distance.
The race follows a 0.84 mile route around quiet country lanes and tracks in Lightmoor, Telford. The race is run under ARC Rules.

The race was won by Justin Montague who completed (with a new course record) a staggering distance of 53.76 Miles with 20 minutes to spare! Congratulations to all runners who competed in what were rather wet conditions and with smiles on their faces.

Two Striders entered, Michael Escolme and Jason Bulley, both are working hard to reach 100 marathons each and decided to finish at the marathon distance in 5:08:31
